How we check organisations
We never collect money, so every donation goes straight from you to the organisation. That is why we check that an organisation is real and delivers before we link to it.
The five checks
An organisation is listed only if it:
- Is registered in its own country. We show its registration number.
- Shows evidence of delivery, such as shipment reports, dated photos, or named partner hospitals.
- Has been active for at least 12 months, or is run by an organisation we already list.
- Says who receives the aid inside Cuba, and how the money gets there.
- Takes payment from abroad. Its own donation page must offer an online card form or a bank transfer. A South African Visa or Mastercard works on any international card form. We do not make test payments, so whether a payment goes through on the day is between you and your bank.
If an organisation fails any check, we do not list it.
What each listing shows
Its name and country, its registration number, what it delivers, how money reaches Cuba, who receives the aid there, the date we last checked it, and whether its donation link currently works.
Weekly link tests
Every week an automatic check visits each donation link. One failed check is noted. After two failed checks in a row the listing shows “Link under review” and the donate button is switched off until the link works again.
A mix of organisations
We aim to include at least one church-based or non-political humanitarian option, so that people with different views can all help.
Money, payments and risk
- We are not paid by any organisation, and we take no commission.
- Some payment providers block or delay payments that mention Cuba. If yours fails, try the organisation's other payment method.
- If you are a US citizen or resident, extra US rules may apply. Ask the organisation how it follows them.
- This is not financial or legal advice.
