Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to read this site and use the Action Desk.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA on every page. Where it is cheap and helps our readers, we go further: body text contrast of 7:1, touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, plain English written for a reader aged 13 to 15, and links to explain unusual words.
How the site is built for this
- It works without JavaScript. You can read, fill in the blanks, and open your email app or WhatsApp.
- You can use everything with a keyboard, and there is a link to skip to the main content.
- Colour is never the only signal. Status labels use words and an icon.
- Light and dark themes follow your device settings, and the layout works at 400% zoom.
- Only one thing animates, the star when you mark an action done, and it stops if you ask your device to reduce motion.
- Letters print cleanly on A4 without menus or buttons.
What we have and have not tested
We run automated accessibility checks on every page, in light and dark themes. Automated tools find only some of the barriers. We have not yet finished testing by hand with TalkBack on Android, NVDA on Windows or VoiceOver on iPhone, or with people who have disabilities. We will list the results here when that is done.
Report a barrier
If something does not work for you, tell us at hello@cubaactiondesk.org.za. Say which page and what happened, and how you would like us to reply. We will answer within 10 working days.
